2008 Adult Programs & Classes

Register for any of the classes that VVL has to offer on line. All classes are outlined below with on line registration procedures. Pre-registration and payment in advance is required for all classes. Unless specified, registration for all programs will be accepted through the first week of the program.

Payments may be paid on line with your Visa\Mastercard or you may make your payment by dropping off a check at the Clubhouse within 24 hours of registering for the class.

In order to pay with a check, please complete the on line registration and hit the submit button. An email will be sent to you. Print out the email confirmation and drop off the confirmation along with your check to the Clubhouse within 24 hours of your on line registration.


CHAMPIONSHIP MARTIAL ARTS
Championship Martial Arts believes in building champions in life and in martial arts by teaching respect, discipline and perseverance. Classes are available for children through adult, beginner through black belt.

Curriculum includes: Taekwondo, Defending against Knives & sticks (Escrima), Grappling techniques and Self-defense.

Women's Morning Class
Teaches Taekwondo and Self - Defense. Good workout including stretching.

Day/Time: Monday/Wednesday 6:45-7:45am

Adult Open Class
Teaches Beginning thru Advanced Taekwondo, Self - Defense, and Weapons

Ages: 13 and Up

BODY SCULPTING
Body Sculpting combines low impact cardio and muscle training to tone, shape and strengthen your body. The class begins with low impact cardio for fat burning and endurance. Muscle training using hand-held weights and resistance exercises to tone the upper and lower body are next. The last segment of the class focuses on core strengthening and stretching. Participants need to bring their own weights and a mat.

PRIVATE YOGA
All levels are welcome for fun, casual, private yoga sessions. Scheduling is done directly through the instructor.

GENTLE HEALING/RELAX YOGA
In this class, we practice techniques and gentle stretches to help restore, maintain, and/or increase flexibility and range of motion. Each class may include a combination of: movements designed to gently and systematically take a joint through its full and natural range of motion, and deeply held gentle stretches that target the connective tissue of our hips, pelvis, lower spine, and shoulders, allowing our joints to stay mobile as we age. Most postures are practiced seated or lying down to encourage the body to open gently and gradually; some standing postures may be introduced. We may use props, such as chairs, blankets, bolsters, straps, blocks and the wall, to assist us in the process. Therapeutic breathing techniques may be practiced to encourage deep relaxation.

NO PRIOR YOGA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! This is an ideal class for students, including seniors and those with chronic pain, who are just getting familiar with Yoga or who wish to practice Yoga at a quieter, gentler pace. This class is great for releasing stiff joints, increasing overall range of motion and flexibility and experiencing deep relaxation. It is also an ideal complement to your aerobic workouts and strength training.

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Yoga or exercise mat; one large towel; a small hand towel; and a Belt or a Strap.

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING
Get a fun an effective workout while the kids are at swim team or workout in air-conditioned comfort in the afternoons. Pam Barker, National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist, with 10 years of personal training experience, is offering small group personal training sessions for participants of all levels of fitness. This is a great way to take advantage of a full fitness assessment, program design and a one-hour workout (including strength training, cardiovascular activity and stretching) while remaining very cost effective.

Work out smarter, not harder and have fun doing it.

Fee: $15 per 1 hour session

It is recommended that participants come to at least 1-2 sessions per week.

AFTERBURN BOOT CAMP
Looking to revitalize your workout routine? Need something fun and challenging? Look no further! Join Val Vista Lakes' certified personal trainer, Jon Lempke, for a "Boot Camp" workout at the Val Vista Lakes beach pool. The After Burn Boot Camp will include running, swimming, calisthenics, and strength training designed to double - even triple - the number of calories your body will burn per workout. Ages 18-60 of all fitness levels welcome.

Sessions: Starting May 3rd
Day/Time: Saturday 7:45-8:45am

Fee: $25 for an individual session or $100 for 5 weeks

20-MINUTE AFTER BURN WORKOUT
If you are ready to take your workouts to the next level or get past your plateau, then come join Jon Lempke for a 20 minute full body workout that will blast off fat while building strong, lean muscles leaving you with more energy than ever before. If your goal is to bulk up or build more muscle, Jon Lempke has specific workouts designed for the 20 minute workout also.

MARTIAL ARTS: HAP-KI-DO TRAINING

Hap-Ki-Do uses the force of the opponent against himself with circular and straight movements. The movements that Gabriel will teach you are effective for self-defense, self-confidence and self-control.

Adult Hap-Ki-Do street self defense classes are now forming, don't get caught in the dark with out it.

You will learn kicks, punches, pressure points, joint manipulation, joint locks, joint breaking, and intensive ground fighting. Hap-Ki-Do breathing exercises will help you develop your inner and external energy force and increase your metabolism.

MATCH PLAY DRILL CLINIC
Enjoy fun instruction, competitive drills, and/or round robin match play. Advice will be given on effective tactics and singles and doubles strategy by PTM professional staff. Participants will be grouped according to skill level to ensure greater competition and fun for everyone. Get into the swing of things and join the fun!

Day/Time: Tuesday 7-8:30 pm (3.5 and up)
